Elaine A. Card, 55, of 204 Pebble Drive, Fairchild passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 11, 1998 at her home, in the care of her family and St. Joseph's Hospice.

Elaine Avis Card, daughter of Reynold and Louise (Amundson) Engum, was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County. As a child she attended Independence Grade School before moving to the Fairchild area with her family. She attended Fairchild Grade and High School. She was united in marriage to Henry Card on July 30, 1977, in Augusta, by Rev. Ralph Walker. She lived most of her life in the Fairchild area where she worked at various retaurants as a waitress and cook, and most recently for her sons at Whit's End in Fairchild. She had also worked at the Sun Burst Youth Home in Neillsville. She was a member of the Fairchild Lions Club for 7 years.

She is survived by her husband Henry of Fairchild; two sons, David and his wife, Donna Whitman of Osseo, Mark Whitman of Fairchild; daughter, Cindy and her husband, Doug Maug of Osseo; three stepdaughters, Dedra and Angela Card both of Eau Claire, Karen and her husband, Eric Franson of Strum; brother, Allen and his wife, Mary Engum of Fairchild; sister Lorraine and her husband, Calvin Ives of Neillsville; six grandchildren, Kiera Whitman, Jamie, Jennifer and Jacklyn Zimbauer, Danielle and Jonathan Whitman, and 4 step grandchildren. Matt and Christopher Franson, Jessica and Joshua Maug. She was preceded in death by her father, Reynold on November 13, 1967, mother Louise on June 16, 1998, son Jerry Whitman on September 13, 1993 and stepdaughter, Laurie Card on October 8, 1996.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Dwight Harrison officiating. Burial was in the Fairchild Cemetery.
