Storgarden Eide in Skjolden

Garden Eide in Skjolden had in time is, the largest kornåkeren in Sogn.

From 1629 to 1648 was the garden seat for sorenskrivar (magistrate, probate judge) Mons Antoniussen (ca. 1590-1648) in the inner Sogn. He was the son of borgarmeisteren (mayor) in Oslo and married to daughter to rådmannen (councilman) in Bergen, Karen Johansdotter.
Son took over
One of Sun their heitte Per Monsson (1632-1694), and he took over the garden in 1663. In addition, he bought a lot of ground in both Luster and Lærdal. In addition to operating Eide-garden, Per Monsson Eide also operated a general store and sawmill. The son Mons collected much land, as well as increasing the ma main garden on Eide monaleg.
Out of family in 1820
In 1820 went Eide-garden out of this family, for widow of the rich trader Tøger Hansen (b. 1771) from Luster / December, Mari Hansen, purchased when the Eide.
Tøger and Mari were parents of the more well-known Lærdal-kremmaren
Jan Henrik Nitter Hansen. When Mari Hansen Eide died in 1847, the son-in-law, captain Munthe, took over Eide, but sold garden just after to G.E. Rostrup.
Selters to Merchants
In 1851 Eide was sold at auction to Christoffer Pedersen Hovland from St. Louis, that same year it was sold further to gudbrandsdølen Steinar Sulheim Torgerson. This Sulheim was also a trader an innkeeper in Skjolden - see:
