Gordon C. Ulberg, 80, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Gordon was born April 25, 1928 in Eleva, WI to Gilbert and Clara (Engum) Ulberg. On July 22, 1950 he married Alice Pederson in Eau Claire. Alice died in 2001. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-57. He was a member of the American Legion Post #53. Gordon worked at Silver Springs Gardens for many years and then worked at Pope and Talbot Paper Company for 21 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, and shooting pool. He was great father and we loved him very much. Gordon is survived by: three daughters, Linda (Dean) Lunderville of Eau Claire, Rebecca (Russell) Wathke of Fall Creek, Patricia (George) Thomas of Eau Claire; two sons, Robert Ulberg of Eau Claire and Roger Ulberg of Chandler, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Hill of Racine, WI; two brothers, Odin Ulberg of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Charles Ulberg of Norway; brother-in-law Odin (Lois) Pederson, Jr.; special friend and companion Mary Rolandt of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Alice; son Ron; two grandsons Christopher and John Ulberg; three brothers Alvin, Clayton, and Selmer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Smith Funeral Chapel with Dale Lunderville officiating. Interment will be in Brunswick Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #53. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Smith Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Thursday.
