Notes for Donald Edwin MOUSEL
Donald Edwin Mousel, 65 of Eau Claire, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2011 with the comfort of his family at his side as a result of the injuries received in a motorcycle accident on October 4, 2011.
Don spent the last weeks of this life, at the Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center where he received excellent and compassionate care from the entire staff.
Don was born on April 18, 1946 in Eau Claire, WI to Wilma (Knott) and Raymond Mousel. He graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1964. He married Dawn Bushendorf in 1968. Don retired from Uniroyal in 1992 after 25 years of service. He worked several jobs before finding a home with Allied Blacktop for the next 16+ years.
Don has a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was particularly fond of his hunting cabin in Barnes, WI and loved spending time on his chicken ranch which he planned, designed, and built himself. To his family and his friends, he had many nicknames: “George”, “Disco”, and “Chico” to name a few.
He was a kind, generous, and fun-loving man. His mother often referred to him as the jokester of the family. He loved Bloody Mary’s and NASCAR on Sundays along with shooting pool and playing cards in the “old farts league” as often as he could. No one was a stranger in his eyes; he could and often would befriend anyone. He enjoyed telling jokes and forwarding emails that put a smile on your face.
His family and friend will miss him dearly.
Don is survived by his companion: Lori Pederson; son Jeff (Katie) Mousel; daughter Stacy (Barry) Swenson; mother Wilma Mousel; brother Ron (Betty) Mousel; brother Larry (Ellie) Mousel; sister Jean Lillis; grandchildren: Chad, Mackenna, Kyah, Ryan, Cale, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his father Raymond and his sister Sharon Mousel.
Visitation will be held at the Stokes, Prock, and Mundt Funeral Chapel 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Funeral Services will be at 5:00pm with Father Edmund Klimek officiating.
