Patricia “Pat” A. Scheppke, 81, of 1122 Barland Street, Eau Claire, WI , died Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born in Eau Claire on August 1, 1930, the daughter of Peter and Marie (Wolf) Smith. Pat graduated from St. Patrick’s High School with the class of 1948. She went on to St. Anthony du Padua School of Nursing in Chicago where she graduated in 1951.

Pat married Edwin “Ed” D. Scheppke on February 2, 1957, in Stillwater, MN.

She worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years as an obstetrics nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire until her retirement in 1990. Over her 30 years of dedicated service, it was estimated that she rocked over 30,000 babies in the Eau Claire area!

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire.

Pat enjoyed making ceramic art work which won many ribbons at various fairs over the years. She also won many 1st place ribbons with her homemade pickles at fairs and craft shows. She was a 2 time winner of the “Freddy Award”, the highest award in ceramics at the Alaska State Fair in Anchorage.

Pat is survived by her eight children, Steven of Lincoln, NE, John (Renee) Scheppke of New Auburn, Ellen, Michael (Roxanne), Kathleen, Richard, Mark (Dawn), James (Denise), all of Eau Claire; 12 grandchildren, Melissa, Nicole, Christopher, Beth, Emily, Samuel, Paul, Benjamin, David, Alexander, Logan and Madison; 5 great-grandchildren, Erika, Scott, Ruth, Rylee and Gavin; sister-in-law, Dianna Nelson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loving canine companions, Mollie and Snoopy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed in 1996; a grandson, Daniel; and her brother-in-law, Fred Scheppke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein and Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. There will be a 6:30 p.m. Public Prayer Service at the funeral home.
