Bygdebok: Son Nils Larsen received or acquired Engum in 1816. He was married to Marte Øvsdal. He deeded the farm to his sons Peder and Kristian in 1851. Kristian sold his share to Peder, who sold it to Andreas Anbjørstoppen, and in 1863 Peder sold the remainder of the Engum farm to Atmind Pålsbråten from Sør-Aurdal.

Note from Rolf Steiner Bergli: Baksætersveen (Bakksætersvea) was a farm he rented, apparently after the Engum farm went bankrupt. Baksætersveen was part of a larger farm called Ålset, Øver Ålset, or Alseth.
Alseth is a larger farm, yes. My brother lives right next to that farm.

A fire in 1890 destroyed the church records for Biri parish (including Snertingdal) for the periods 1789-1814 and 1854-1877. Some partial transcriptions made before the fire and some material from 1862 has been preserved. Until 1822 the area Redalen was part of Ringsaker parish in Hedmark.
