STRUM - Donald Engum, 67, of Strum died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born June 25, 1941, in Whitehall to Clayton and Arlene (Kolve) Engum. He was raised on a farm in Engum Valley, rural Independence. Don married Pat Olson on Sept. 7, 1963, in East Bennett Valley Lutheran Church. Don was president of Durand Federal Savings and Loan for many years. He was a member of Durand Lions Club, served on the boards of Faith Lutheran Church and Chippewa Valley Hospital and served on the Durand City Council. His caring attitude carried into the founding of American Realty Group, which grew to include working with his three sons. Don enjoyed playing golf, cards, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Engum of Strum; three sons, Jeffery (Jenny) Engum of Strum, Daniel (Wendi) Engum and David Engum, all of Eau Claire; a sister, Judy (Glen) Deetz of Mondovi; and three grandchildren, Gavin, Andin and Riley Ann Engum.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Eleva Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kermit Solem officiating. Burial will be in East Bennett Valley Church Cemetery, rural Eleva.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Eleva, and one hour prior to services at the church.
