EAU CLAIRE, Wis. Arlene Engum, 83, of Eau Claire died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at Strum Nursing Home. She was born June 5, 1922, in Whitehall, Wis. She married Clayton Engum; they had two children.

She was born June 5, 1922, in Whitehall to Eddie I. and Delia (Erickson) Kolve. She married Clayton Engum on August 3, 1940. The couple farmed in Engum Valley, Chimney Rock Township until his death on. January 4, 1971. Arlene managed the Buffington Home in Eau Claire for many years until her retirement. She was a former member of East Bennett Valley Church.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Pat) Engum of Strum; daughter, Judy (Glen) Deetz of Mondovi; sister, Evangeline (Ervin) Hestekin of Independence; sister-in-law, Thelma Kolve of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, David (Dee Dee) Deetz and Cindy (Kerry) Bauer both of Mondovi, Jeffery (Jenny) Engum of Strum, Daniel (Wendy) Engum and David Engum both of Eau Claire; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Andin and Riley Ann Engum.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, Galvin and Lloyd Kolve.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at East Bennett Valley Lutheran Church, rural Eleva, with Rev. Fred Ohlrogge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Eleva and one hour prior to services at the church.
Edison Funeral Home, Independence, is assisting the family with arrangements.
