OSSEO — Phillis Myron Olson, 84, of Osseo died Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Osseo Area Nursing Home.
Phil was born March 17, 1922, in the town of Chimney Rock, Trempealeau County, Wis., to Alfred and Hilda (Halvorson) Olson. He married Marlyce Nelson on May 16, 1948, at Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osseo.
Phil farmed in the town of Chimney Rock, and worked for the township. Phil and his family spent the majority of their lives in Osseo. He worked for the Trempealeau County Highway Department until he was hired by Overgard Construction, where he worked as a finish grader operator. For several years, he was employed by Hoffman Construction of Black River Falls. He was a skilled finish grader operator who worked on many major construction projects in Wisconsin and surrounding states.
Phil was a loving father and grandfather who had an inventor's mind and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening — and took pride in his Norwegian heritage.
Phil was a member of Osseo Rod & Gun Club, Operating Engineers Local #139, and took an active roll in Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Phil is survived by his wife, Marlyce; one son, David (Bonnie) Olson, of Emmons, Minn.; one daughter, Ann (Dennis) Knuth, of Palmer, Alaska; four grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Casavant, Mikal Olson, Jeremiah (Katy) Knuth and Angela (Daniel) Alexander; two great-grandchildren, Byrnn Casavant and Amber Alexander; one brother, Truman (Myrtle) Olson, of Whitehall.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Pheobe; sister Marjorie Axness; and brothers Afner, Reuben and Duaine Olson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2007, at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, town of Hale, Trempealeau County.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
