OSSEO - Marlyce Josephine Olson, 83, of Osseo, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Pigeon Falls Healthcare in Pigeon Falls.
Marlyce was born August 26, 1928 in the Town of Hale, Trempealeau County to Martin and Olive (Rongstad) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Elk Creek Lutheran Church. Marlyce graduated from Whitehall High School. Marlyce married Phillis Olson on May 16, 1948 at Elk Creek Lutheran Church. They began their married life in the Township of Chimney Rock, Trempealeau County. In the 1950's they settled in Osseo. Phil preceded her in death on January 20, 2007. Marlyce worked at Osseo Hospital and Nursing home for over 20 years as a Nurse's Aide and as a Ward Clerk. Marlyce enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining her family and friends, gardening and sewing. She was an active member of Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and did quilting for the Mission Society.
Marlyce is survived by her daughter, Ann (Dennis) Knuth of Palmer, AK; her son, David (Bonnie) Olson of Emmons, MN; four grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Casavant, Mikal Olson, Jeremiah Knuth and Angela (Daniel) Alexander. She is further survived by three great-grandchildren, Brynn Casavant, Amber and Khali Alexander.
In addition to her husband, Phil, she was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Olive; and one brother, Marshall Nelson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
