Mrs. Catherine Smith Dies Here (ECL 20, 22 Aug 1940 p2)

Mrs. Catherine Smith, aged 75, of 725 Hudson Street, died at a local hospital Tuesday morning from a severe heart attack. She was a resident of Eau Claire for 61 years.

Mrs. Smith was a member for many years of the third order of St. Francis and of St. Ann’s Ladies’ society of the Sacred Heart parish.

She was married to the late Peter Smith in 1888. She is survived by seven children, Sister M. Norbertine of Chicago, Ill.; Peter, Walter, Bernard and Mrs. Harry Dalheimer of Eau Claire; the Rev. Lawrence Smith, OSB of New York City and Mrs. E. Stelzer of Mankato, Minn. The eighth child, Sister Josephine, died in 1911.

The funeral will be held Friday morning at 8:30 from the residence and at 9 o’clock from Sacred Heart church where solemn requiem mass will be celebrated by her son, the Rev. Smith.

Interment will be at the Sacred Heart cemetery. Friends may call at the residence Thursday. Rosary devotions will be held Thursday evening at 7:30.
